The project deals with the stepper motor control using 8051 microcontroller and ULN2003. The popularity of stepper motor is due to the fact that they can be controlled directly by microcontroller. When definite pulses are supplied to stepper motor the shaft turns through definite known angles but the pulses generated by microcontroller are not sufficient to drive it as a result, a device known as ULN2003 is used which amplifies the pulses generated by microcontroller and supplies the same to the stepper motor.

Project Description: The design and implementation of a Matrix Converter for Frequency Changing Power Supply Applications.
This thesis is concerned with the design and implementation of a Matrix Converter for Frequency Changing Power Supply Applications. The work will consider the design, simulation, practical construction and testing of a 7.5kVA system prototype. A Matrix Converter is a device used for converting directly AC energy into AC energy; the main feature of this device is to convert the magnitude as well as the frequency of the input into a desired magnitude and frequency of the output with an \"all-silicon\" solution. Mainly, a Matrix Converter consists of nine bi-directional switches, which are required to be commutated in the right way and sequence in order to minimize losses and produce the desired output with a high quality input and output waveforms.
Switching on and off of home appliances using microcontroller

Project Description: to design and develop a home appliance remote control using Microcontroller.
The present project relates to an automatic switch for controlling electric loads, and more particularly to an intelligent automatic switch which includes the functions of switching on and off of home appliances using pc and to automatically control actuation/deactivation of lights or other home appliances to the room or enclosure. An automatic switch is provided which includes push buttons, a microcontroller, a RF receiver, a RF transmitter, relays, encoder, decoder parallel and serial ports and a processing circuit for controlling electrical load such as lights or home appliances in a room. The push buttons are employed in order to switch on and off of the desired electrical home appliances. These buttons are connected to the port1 pins of microcontroller and then the parallel output of the microcontroller (AT89C51) is connected to the encoder (HT640). Then the serial output of encoder is fed to the RF transmitter. Thus the signals are transmitted from RF transmitter. The signals are then received through the RF receiving antenna, where again a serial output is received by decoder (HT648L), where encoding process takes place. The serial data is taken as the input by decoder whose parallel output is fed to another microcontroller. These signals are then received by the relays with which the desired electrical appliance is operated.
