Metal Engineering & Treatment Co., better known as METCO was formed in 1962. It started as a partnership firm by four fresh graduate engineers of Bengal Engineering College (currently BESU), Shibpur, who turned into entrepreneurs by their sheer courage and determination and could make it possible in blossoming and emerging into a large family which is popularly known today as METCO Industries. The management of the company now rests with a Board of Directors controlled by the two founder members.

METCO entered into the international market with its complete range of products of bridge bearing as late as 1970s and within a couple of years its export increased several folds owing to the combination of excellence in its research and development work, traditional craftsmanship and zeal executed by a well-trained workforce.
