Some progress made in India, but long way to go: Lakshmi Mittal

New Delhi : Steel giant ArcelorMittal today said it is still "a long way to go" before setting up a steel project in India, even as some progress has been made by the company in terms of mining operations and acquisition of land.

"There is some progress in terms of the mining operations but we have a long way to go before we take a final decision to start construction [of the steel mill in India]," ArcelorMittal chief Lakshmi Mittal said.

Recently the world's largest steelmaker began drilling operations in Seregarha coal block in Latehar district of Jharkhand for its proposed 12 million tonne per annum capacity plant in the state.
