The Department of Urban Development (UD) of the state government has instructed the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) to send a proposal to redevelop 159 slums in the city under the slum rehabilitation program.
In addition, the UD Department approved several development projects in the city, ranging from easing the standards of construction in the area of Gaothan (Old City), a new direct pipeline from the Darana Dam to Nashik Road in line with a direct pipeline from the Mukane dam and offline submission and approval for construction projects for the coming months until the online process is streamlined.
On Friday, Eknath Shinde, the Minister of Urban Development, had a virtual meeting with the city council. Some of Sena's corporations, including Ajay Boraste, the opposition leader in the city of Sudhakar Badgujar, president of Shiv Sena, also attended the meeting held in Mumbai.
In 2020, the state government had decided to let the civil society organizations in the state rent out their properties at 8% of the Ready Reckoner (RR) rate. At the meeting, Sena corporators asked the minister to lower it to 2.5% of the RR rate for registered social outfits. The minister said the change would be made to the existing rent standards for the civil society organizations in the state.
Boraste said the UD minister has instructed the Civil Administration to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the direct pipeline from the Darna Dam to Nashik Road, which will solve the water problem of the Nashik Road division of the NMC.
