Tile manufacturers in Morbi complain about a rise in natural gas prices from Gujarat Gas, their main fuel supplier. The price increase of Rs 4.37 per SCM (excluding taxes, for a guaranteed minimum purchase of three months) will cost the industry about Rs 100 crore extra per month as the 950 units in the area consume 70 lakh cubic meters of gas daily.
“The 10-12 percent increase in gas prices comes at a time when we are already grappling with higher coal and freight rates, both of which have nearly doubled.”
