Mobile towers and high-rises are no longer allowed to be formed within a 1.5 km radius behind the Taj Mahal to keep the skyline clear.
The administration of Agra has included the provision in the master plan of the city, which the government must allow.
Rajendra Pensiya, deputy chairman of the Agra Development Authority, told media that no building higher than 25m would be built behind the Taj Mahal, so that the panoramic view of the monument can be seen without a barrier in the background.
Amit Gupta, division commissioner, Agra, who is the ADA chairman, told media the decision was made in a recent board meeting following a March 2020 investigation by the ADA engineering team.
