Cement industry records highest ever OPBIDTA per mt in Q1 FY22

Cement companies in India recorded their all-time high OPBIDTA per mt of Rs 1,372 per mt in Q1 (Q1) FY 2022, surpassing the previous peak of Rs 1,306 per mt in Q1 FY 2021, despite pressure on the cost side, ICRA Limited said.

Cement production across India was down 12% quarter on quarter (QoQ) to 82 million tonnes in Q1 FY 2022, as a result of the state-wise lockdowns caused by the pandemic, which impacted demand in April-May 2021. , it was 54% higher year on year (year-on-year) due to the lower base in April 2020 due to the lockdown.
