Steel producer Tata Steel has joined the Sea Cargo Charter (SCC) as part of its sustainability goals and measures to minimize greenhouse gas emissions from ocean trade.
The company is the 24th organization to join SCC, which is committed to reducing the environmental impact of global ocean freight. It is also the first steel producer in the world to sign up as a signatory.
SCC has already gathered 24 signatories since its launch in October 2020.
With a global sea transport volume of more than 40 million tons per year, Peeyush Gupta, Vice President of Supply Chain at Tata Steel, said it is a big step towards correct metering and efficient and innovative mitigation.
