On Tuesday, the government of Tamil Nadu released the draft of its first resettlement and rehabilitation policy for slum dwellers.
The draft policy of the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB), formerly named Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board, states that it applies to infringement, eviction and displacement by the departments, statutory officers and local organizations under various laws and regulations.
Considering that the policy would rule other directions for the people fired from offending poramboke land, it says the policy only applies to the infringers or non-employees of the country, where relocation is offered for involuntary resettlement.
