The civil authority, in conjunction with Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City Limited, has launched a GIS-based investigation to assess property taxes within its jurisdiction.
Property tax in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) official told media that the investigation, which is based on a Geographic Information System (GIS), would ensure transparency of tax collection and close revenue leaks.
PCMC Commissioner Rajesh Patil told the media that they have conducted a door-to-door assessment survey as well as GIS-based maps to improve revenue collection.
PCMC Additional Commissioner Vikas Dhakane said that this was the civil authority's first attempt to produce GIS maps for property assessment.
