On Monday, the government of Jharkhand formally inaugurated the center's Svamitva Yojana from Karra village in the Arki block of Khunti district.
Under the scheme, the Ministry of Revenue, Land Registry and Registry will join forces with the Survey of India to generate digital records of real estate belonging to residents of rural areas in the state.
The scheme was launched on 24 August 2020 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was started by the Union of Panchayati Raj and Land Revenue Ministries. In Jharkhand, under this scheme, more villages with panchayats of 4,345 grams in 24 districts will be taken.
Khunti was prominently the epicenter of the Pathalgarhi movement during the tenure of former Prime Minister Raghubar Das when locals built plaques representing self-government and restricting outsiders' access to their respective settlements.
