The new Hitachi ZW100-6 is a small yet powerful wheel loader well suited to lighter tasks such as earthmoving, excavation, landscaping and utility work.
With an operating weight of 17,042 pounds, the loader is powered by a Deutz engine that produces 101 horsepower and 9,680 pounds of breakout force. The engine meets Tier 4 Final emissions requirements through a dedicated catalytic reduction system that inserts urea into exhaust gases to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions and eliminate the need for a diesel particulate filter.
Hitachi says the engine also emphasizes a quick on/off switch that improves engine power when needed or when driving uphill.
The bucket capacity of the ZW100-6 is 1.4 cubic meters and the machine has a maximum pivot pin height of 11 ft 6 in.
A hydrostatic transmission system makes maneuvering the machine easier. Operators can choose between two work modes based on the terrain and the task. The company says the oscillating rear axle provides more stability and traction than fixed axle loaders. When used in wet or slippery conditions, torque distribution differentials help prevent tire slippage, reduce wear and fuel wastage. The ride-control feature reduces machine pitching for a smoother ride and reduces baking material spillage.
Unlike previous models, the ZW100-6 consumes 6% less fuel during V-loading and 19% less fuel during driving operations. Fuel waste is reduced by the standard automatic shut-off at idle.
The ZW100-6 provides a clear view of the job site with a 360 degree view from the cab. The repositioned muffler and air intake improve visibility through the rear window. The curved hood further improves visibility and safety. Advanced in-cab insulation lowers noise levels and prepares for a quieter working environment.
An easy-to-open wide hood provides easy access for maintenance from the ground. The engine air filter has been moved to the rear of the engine compartment. The reinforced front frame emphasizes the heavily loaded axles, which are designed in-house for increased durability. An optional belly guard can be added to preserve the drivetrain and driveshaft.
The ZW100-6 also features Hitachi's Global e-Service for 24/7 remote monitoring of machine performance. The company's ConSite program provides automated monthly service reports on daily work hours and fuel consumption data, operating mode ratio statistics, and comparison for fuel economy or efficiency and emissions.
Following the introduction of the new ZW100-6, the Hitachi ZW-6 wheel loader range now has 15 models.
