The Cat 340 UHD – which stands for Ultra High Demolition – is a new demolition excavator from Cat.
The new tallboy has a pin height that is 13% higher than the 340F UHD, allowing it to demolish structures up to eight stories high. Another advantage is that the 340 UHD has a clutch system that allows you to swap between two UHD fronts and the shorter retrofit booms and sticks in just 15 minutes without special tools.
Cat also worked on making the new demolition excavator more portable. In transport mode, a hydraulically actuated variable gauge from 9 ft 10 inches to 13 ft 4 inches for stability in the working configuration. The shipping height of the UHD boom can be reduced to less than 9 ft 10 in. by using an optional one-piece cradle.
The new 340 UHD allows the use of Cat couplers on the sticks to increase machine versatility and productivity.
Three stick lengths are available: 9 ft 2 inches, 10 ft 6 inches, and 12 ft 10 inches. The machine's maximum digging depth is 24 ft 3 inches.
The hydraulic boom lines on the UHD can be easily connected and disconnected by hand and without special tools. For high productivity truck loading or low level demolition, contractors can choose between one- or two-piece boom options.
When working with the one-piece retrofit boom, Standard Cat Payload provides on-the-go roads and real-time payload estimates to help operators achieve accurate load targets.
Cat increased the seat by 5% and added a folding console on the left side for easier entry and exit. The monitor can store custom programmable settings and joystick button operations based on the operator ID.
