Tata Motors said on Friday that it has teamed up with the government of Maharashtra to support the establishment of a Registered Motor Disposal Facility (RVSF) in the state.
The car major has signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government to help set up the wrecking center with a recycling capacity of up to 35,000 vehicles per year for end-of-life passenger and commercial vehicles.
The Ministry of State Industry, Energy and Labor will assist in facilitating necessary approvals under the rules and regulations for setting up the facility, the company said.
“In addition to the well-known benefits of proper vehicle dismantling in building a circular economy, this initiative will also help reiterate our commitment to strengthen our leadership in sustainable mobility. We are proud to working with policy makers on this initiative It is the start of a new chapter and a step in the right direction for the Indian transport sector," said Tata Motors Executive Director Girish Wagh in a statement.
Tata Motors had previously signed an MoU with the government of Gujarat to set up a demolition facility in Ahmedabad.
