Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) aims to achieve a turnover of Rs 500 crore in the next three years from its hot rolled stainless steel checkered plate business.
The current size of the checkered sheet market in India is 2,000,000 tons per year and is growing at an annual rate of 8 percent, the stainless steel player said in a statement on Thursday.
In the statement, JSL said the company has launched India's first branded checkered stainless steel plate.
The company aims to capture 20 percent market share in the next three years, representing an additional business potential of Rs 500 crore from the new venture.
The product was launched by JSL Director Abhyuday Jindal at the 2021 International Railway Equipment Exhibition organized by the industry association Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
“The launch of our stainless steel checkered plate is the next step in creating quality awareness among the end customer. We aim for an annual turnover of 40,000 tons (of the product).
“While checkered plates have been in use for transportation and industrial applications, given their remarkably superior offerings, stainless steel checkered plates are sure to change the dynamics within this category," said Jindal.
Checkered sheets find applications in factory and factory floors, stairs and floors of automobiles (buses and trucks), railway bridges, architectural stairs and floors etc.
