Fortis fires Rs. 400cr capacity addition

Puducherry : In an attempt to achieve operational targets of 5,000 beds from the current 1,000 in its 56 hospitals, Fortis Healthcare (India) Limited has decided to invest Rs. 400cr in its capacity addition forays during the current financial year. In line with its continuing growth momentum in tier II and tier III cities during the on going financial year it has added 350 beds by setting up health care facilities at Alwar Dehradun, Pondicherry and Mysore.

According to official sources, the operating revenue for the full year clocked at Rs. 1,483cr recording a growth of 58 per cent but bridging the start up losses it suffered in its green field ventures the operating profit stood at Rs. 209cr and consolidated profit grew by 79 percent to Rs. 124.4cr as compared to Rs. 69cr in the 2010-11 financial year. Its international operation also recorded healthy growth and grew by 61 percent to Rs. 31.7cr. In totality its total income for the quarter ended May 31, 2011 recorded Rs. 415.62cr as against Rs. 329.52cr in the same period last fiscal.
