The Prime Minister has inaugurated the 9-kilometer stretch of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation-UPMRC for the Kanpur Metro Project which has been completed. 2,000 tons of stainless steel for the subway project has been supplied by Jindal Stainless Limited-JSL. High-quality stainless steel in various temperatures or strength levels was supplied to Alstom by Jindal Stainless. On September 18, 2021, the first train was handed over by Alstom to UPMRC.
On Wednesday, Jindal Stainless Limited said it supplied 2,000 tons of steel for the Kanpur Metro Project and was inaugurated last week by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister conducted an inspection of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project and a subway ride between the IIT metro station and Geeta Nagar on Dec. 28.
The company's statement said that the 9-kilometer completed stretch was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of the Kanpur Metro Project.
High quality stainless steel in various temperatures or strength levels was supplied to Alstom by Jindal Stainless. On September 18, 2021, UPMRC had handed over Alstom's first train set.
The metro project includes the design and development of a total of 201 carriages. Every coach needs about 9 to 10 tons of stainless steel.
In addition, stainless steel has been supplied for metro projects in Sydney and Queensland.
