Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday that the COVID-19 positivity rate in the national capital has fallen by 20 percent in the past 10 days, adding that restrictions will be lifted soon.
“The COVID positivity rate has decreased by 20 percent in the past 10 days. Today it is about 10 percent, as opposed to the 30 percent positivity on January 15. This is all because of the constant vaccination rate,” says Kejriwal. said during a program in Delhi
Kejriwal praised the efforts of health professionals and said 100 percent of the population of Delhi has received the first dose of the COVID vaccine and 82 percent the second dose of the vaccine.
“As COVID-19 increases, we need to put some restrictions on economic activity. But we don't want to create an obstacle in your life, but to protect you and your health. Soon we will try to lift the (COVID) restrictions and your life will return to normal…will make every effort in that direction," said the Delhi CM.
Kejriwal also said India is currently going through the third wave of COVID-19 but Delhi is going through the fifth wave of the pandemic.
Delhi continued to report a decline in daily COVID-19 infections on Monday with 5,760 new cases and a daily positivity rate of 11.79 percent.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi to 17,97,471 including 45,140 active cases. Of these active cases, 36,838 are currently in home isolation, according to yesterday's bulletin.
