The Ministry of Housing, V Somanna, has instructed the authorities to issue a work order before February 10 for the construction of 10,060 residences for beneficiaries under the Basava Housing Plan and the Dr. BR Ambedkar Nivas Yojana.
Speaking during the various housing programs at the Jila panchayat auditorium, he instructed authorities to finalize the list of beneficiaries and issue a work order to build houses. In addition to the work order, the first installment amount for the homes must be transferred to the beneficiaries. To avoid any construction delays, the construction amount is settled in three instead of four instalments.
He said he sanctioned 20 additional houses for every gram of panchayat. The authorities should organize a district-level program to distribute hakku patra to the beneficiaries who have had their houses built by the Karnataka Slum Development Board. Authorities must ensure that property taxes are collected from owners.
He added that the ministry has sanctioned 4 lakh houses in rural areas and 1 lakh in urban areas. The center has secured sanction of 18 lakh houses for the state.
Furthermore, the rules of the housing department have now been simplified in favor of home buyers.
Earlier, MLA Yathindra Siddaramaiah said a bill had not been approved for 8,053 houses under construction in his Varuna constituency. The director, Basavaraj, said 5.70 lakh houses were sanctioned under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme, and the bill has been canceled for nearly 1.55 lakh beneficiaries.
