NTPC could build new coal-fired power plants if needed, says chairman

CHENNAI (Reuters) - India's largest energy producer NTPC Ltd could build new coal-fired power plants if needed, the state-owned company chairman Gurdeep Singh said Friday.

"We shouldn't shy away from it. If there's a requirement, maybe we should go for new coal-fired power plants," Singh said.

Singh also said the company is considering building nuclear power plants, but talks are tentative.
