Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to open a 1.8 km road length of the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) extension project by April.
The MMRDA plans to open the 1.8km stretch of part of the SCLR expansion project in April. The project is under construction on Hans Burga Marg from the interchange Hotel Grand Hyatt and McDonald's, Raza Chawk, Santacruz.
An official has stated that part of Phase 1 of the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) Expansion Project is expected to be completed and opened to one-way traffic. The development has been confirmed by the MMRDA Commissioner, SVR Srinivas.
The Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) extension work includes an elevated corridor. The project is being implemented in two phases by the MMRDA to relieve Kurla and provide east-west connectivity through the current SCLR. Construction of the SCLR extension project started in 2016 at an estimated cost of Rs 481 crore. The original deadline for the project was 2019 and has now been postponed for a few years. This opening will provide some relief to the commuters.
The main goal of this expansion project is to relieve the massive traffic at the Vakola interchange. It also aims to help the car traffic associated with the airport reach the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in just a few minutes.
