Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Roads (MoRTH), opened a 14.5 km rail-cum-road bridge over the Ganga River approach project on National Highway (NH) 333B in Munger, Bihar, worth Rs 696 crore.
Gadkari said the ministry led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Nitish Kumar is committed to empowering every city and village of Bihar and providing better connectivity.
He said the city of Munger, one of Bihar's major tourist and pilgrimage sites, is known for its rich ancient heritage, history, culture, education and trade. He added that with the construction of this bridge, the distance from Munger to Khagaria will be less than 100 km and the distance from Munger to Begusarai will be less than 20 km.
Moreover, it saves three hours travel time from Munger to Khagaria - Saharsa and 45 minutes from Munger to Begusarai - Samastipur. The rail-cum-road bridge will reduce congestion, save fuel and speed up traffic.
Gadkari said tourism, agriculture and industry will increase, which will increase employment in the state. He also said that this project would bring progress and prosperity to the entire region and will be a milestone in the progress of the state and the country.
