The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has signed an agreement with IRCON International Limited to design, supply and construct the tracks and related works for the dual high-speed railway line for the forthcoming Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR) T- 2 pack.
According to a statement, the ballastless sheet metal track system used in Japanese Bullet Trains will be used on India's first high-speed rail corridor project.
NHSRCL said Japan Railway Track Consultant Company Limited (JRTC) had provided the detailed design and drawing of the high-speed rail components, including RC track bed, track slab arrangement and continuous welded rail (CWR) forces, etc. The track contract will be the Made in India initiative give a boost.
NHSRCL's Managing Director, Satish Agnihotri, said the company received support from JICA. He appreciated technical support from Japan Railway Technical Service (JARTS), Japan Railway Track Consultant (JRTC) and Japan Information And Culture Center (JICC) for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project.
Chief Representative of JICA India Saito Mitsunori said the bullet train project would be a crucial part of railway safety and comfortable ride in Japanese Shinkansen technology. The contract offers Indian companies the opportunity to partner with Japanese agencies, which are experts in Shinkansen technology.
NHSRCL Project Director Rajendra Prasad said the Shinkansen technology has an unparalleled safety record and the railway plays a vital role in safety. The experts from Japan come to India to provide training to supervisors and workers involved in the project.
