The nation's largest airline, IndiGo, has selected NAVBLUE, an Airbus Services company, to upgrade navigation technology in some of its A320 aircraft and help pilots navigate challenging airspaces with greater accuracy and predictability.
The leading airline will bolster part of its A320 aircraft fleet with Required Navigation Performance with Authorization Required (RNP AR) capability. Airbus' RNP AR upgrade allows IndiGo pilots to navigate accurately and predictably through mountainous regions or other challenging airspaces, according to NAVBLUE. NAVBLUE is engaged in flight functions and air traffic management solutions.
IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta told media that the airline has full confidence in NAVBLUE's expertise, which will help pilots safely navigate difficult terrains such as twisty or hilly areas during takeoff or landing. They believe this will improve the operational safety of the aircraft, as well as increase efficiency in the long run. The airline has been a customer of NAVBLUE since 2006.
