KT Rama Rao, Minister of IT and Industries, called on the central government to end its discriminatory approach to Telangana and take initiatives to establish a steel mill in Bayyaram at the earliest.
The IT minister expressed concern that high-quality iron ore is available in Bayyaram. Due to the lack of commitment from the national government, it has postponed the establishment of a steel factory.
He said the 2014 AP Reorganization Act promised the establishment of a steel mill in Bayyaram. However, the Center has not taken any steps in this matter even after seven and a half years.
In a letter addressed to Union Steel Minister Ramachandra Prasad Singh, Mr. Rama Rao said that despite the central government's commitment, the Center had sidelined the proposed steel plant.
