Adani Group and Ballard Power Systems have come together to evaluate a joint investment in hydrogen fuel cell production in the country.
In a statement, the Adani group said that under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), both sides will explore various options for cooperation, including a possible cooperation for fuel cell production in the country.
Hydrogen is highly regarded as an essential medium for decarbonising energy, mobility and industry.
The Adani group aims to be one of the largest producers of green hydrogen in the world through accelerated investments in renewable energy.
The efforts under MoU should be anchored by Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL). ANIL is a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises that focuses on green hydrogen generation, including green power generation, wind turbines, downstream products and electrolyzers.
Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL) director, Vineet S Jaain, said green hydrogen is the fuel of the future and fuel cells will be a breakthrough in the country's energy transition.
The company's ability to create a world-class green hydrogen value chain will be important in facilitating the energy transition and is pleased to partner with Ballard, the global leader in fuel cell technology, to create a shared fuel cell ecosystem in the country.
ANIL will deploy innovative use cases in their businesses along with marine vessels, industrial energy, fuel cell trucks, mining equipment and off-road vehicles. It will shape this industry through this strategic partnership.
