Wonder Cement installs ABB's SPRS solution to save energy

Wonder Cement has installed ABB's ACS880-based Slip Power Recovery System (SPRS) solution at its facility in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, to conserve energy.

The factory has three production lines with a production capacity of 8 million tons per year (mtpa).

Because the cement manufacturing procedure is complex, companies usually choose large slip ring induction motors to get high starting torque and meet the procedure requirements.

The traditional process uses external rotor resistors and results in heavy power loss in the form of resistive heat dissipation.

The SPRS solution of ABB's ACS880 plays an essential role in controlling the speed of the speed ring motor and helps to achieve significant energy savings.
