Ather Energy, a manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, has partnered with Foxconn subsidiary Bharat FIH to purchase various components for its electric vehicles (EVs).
Bharat FIH will manage the entire supply chain and logistics for these components, including printed circuit board assemblies, peripheral control units and drive control modules. In addition to these products that it manufactures in-house, Bharat FIH also has an agreement with a supplier to produce lead-acid electronic batteries for the company's electric vehicle projects.
Sanmina Corporation used to supply these components.
Tarun Mehta, chief executive officer of Ather Energy, said they are working to strengthen their supply chain to meet the rising demand for their scooters.
He added that they are delighted to partner with Bharat FIH to provide us with the supply chain capability, capability and process expertise to meet their volumes and projections.
Mehta said the partnership reflects how much major auto parts manufacturers want to take advantage of the opportunities in the EV industry. Lack of interest from larger suppliers has hampered EV manufacturers, but things are getting better now as supply picks up.
In February, Ather sold 2,042 scooters, an increase of 140% year-over-year (YoY).
