Adani Power acquires 1,200 MW thermal project in Madhya Pradesh

Adani Power Limited has now completed the acquisition of a 1,200 MW thermal energy project from Essar Power in Mahan, Madhya Pradesh.

The Essar Power MP Limited is currently undergoing insolvency proceedings.

In a regulatory filing, the total cost of acquisition of Essar Power MP Limited was said to exceed Rs 4,250 crore, including the estimated cost of compliance along with environmental and emissions standards.

Adani Power Limited completed the acquisition of 100% of the paid-up share capital and management control of Essar Power M P Limited (EMPPL), which is undergoing insolvency proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.

Essar Power MP Limited owns a 1,200 MW thermal power plant in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh.

Adani Power was the successful bidder for the 1,200 MW project in Madhya Pradesh in June 2021.

The Mahan Power Station is a 2×600MW-1,200MW coal-fired power station located in the Singrauli District of Madhya Pradesh. The Mahan power station is a power supplier through the Mahan-Sipat transmission line built by the Essar Power Transmission Company which was commissioned in September 2018.
