Nitin Nabin, Road Construction Minister in Patna, told media that by the next fiscal year (FY), the government would introduce a bridge maintenance policy, including aspects such as maintenance, lighting and painting of the bridges.
MLC Ram Chandra Purbey raised the issue of defunct lights on roads and bridges such as Gandhi Setu in Patna and Vikramshila Setu in Bhagalpur. He said these bridges witness frequent accidents due to the lack of proper lighting.
The minister said the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which is responsible for the lights on these two bridges, has been urged to take the necessary measures. The maintenance of the bridges is an important theme and the government will soon come up with policy.
MLC Kedar Nath Pandey highlights the incomplete construction of the National Highway (NH) 28A, which connects Motihari to Raxaul via Chhapra.
Nabin said that from a 68 km long road, a 59 km stretch of road had been built. The road construction project will be completed at the end of this year. Another MLC, Sunil Singh, stressed the delay in the construction of Panchayati Raj Bhawan in some panchayats due to the unavailability of land. The minister of Panchayati Raj, Samrat Choudhary, said each panchayat would soon have its own Panchayat Sarkar Bhawan.
He said that the government has already approved the construction of these buildings in 3,200 panchayats on a cluster basis by merging 3-4 panchayats into one building.
