JSPL to set up second coal gasification plant at Raigarh plant

Managing Director of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), VR Sharma, told media that the company plans to set up a coal gasification plant at its Raigarh plant in Chhattisgarh.

JSPL is already using coal gasification technology to produce steel at its plant in Angul, Odisha.

The plant with a production capacity of two million tons per year (mtpa) was inaugurated in 2018, the first and only plant in India to produce steel from swadeshi coal using coal gasification technology.

Sharma said that as part of the company's mission to promote coal diversification, the company would set up another coal gasification plant at our factory in Raigarh.
