Private equity (PE) investment inflows into the Indian real estate sector totaled $1 billion during the March quarter, nearly five times the December quarter, and witnessed a 47% decline compared to the March 2021 quarter, according to a report by Savills India, a global real estate consultancy.
During the December quarter of 2021, PE investment in Indian real estate was $218 million, up from $1.9 billion in the March quarter last year.
According to the report, commercial office assets continued to lead the way in the last quarter, accounting for more than two-thirds of the investment pie. All quarterly investments in the sector were from foreign institutional investors and focused on core office assets in Bengaluru.
