Chennai Central Station and Vijayawada Railway Station meet their electricity needs through solar energy.
According to the Ministry of Railways, it meets its electricity needs through the solar energy produced at Vijayawada Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh and Dr. M. G. Ramachandran in Chennai.
The railway aims to reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to the preservation of the environment by using a renewable energy source.
The railways meet their energy needs through photovoltaic panels installed at station buildings. So far, about 13 such buildings have been equipped with solar panels for electricity generation.
