ACC Cement is now part of the LafarageHolcim Group. In FY21, ACC posted net sales of Rs 13,487 crore and consolidated net profit of Rs 1,430 crore.
The company has commissioned a new milling unit in Sindri, Jharkhand, which will add 1.4 million tons of cement capacity per year to the existing three million tons per year.
The sustainability strategy is guided by the Sustainable Development Plan 2030, aligned with the sustainability vision of the parent company. The initiatives under this plan include investments in improving the energy efficiency of production facilities, the use of alternative raw materials and fuels and the replacement of carbon dioxide intensive clinker used in cement production with resources derived from fly ash and snails.
It has led to a 3.7% reduction in specific carbon dioxide emissions, a 22% reduction in nitrous oxide emissions and a 27% reduction in dust emissions in the financial year.
In FY21, ACC consumed 3.63 million cubic m3 of water in cement operations, a decrease of 9% from the previous year. In FY21, approximately 90% of the total cement produced was mixed cement. In 2021, ACC processed 0.57 tons of waste, of which 99,517 tons of plastic waste.
The company offered eight products certified by the Confederation of Indian Industry to receive an eco-label. Its green product R&D initiatives include the development of carbon neutral concrete and ultra high performance concrete.
The company's green energy consumption was 85.26 units in FY21, compared to the previous year of 82.39 units. It reported a thermal substitution rate of 6.93% in FY21, up from 1.48% in FY20. In addition, the recovery capacity of ACC's residual heat will increase from 7.5 MW to 22.5 MW.
ACC added a dealer footprint of 12,000 and last year 2,050. The company has an integrated supply chain in its strategy for operational efficiency and sustainability.
