The 15.25 km elevated line between Baiyappanahalli and Whitefield is expected to open in December 2022, with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) settling some pending bottlenecks with the railway authorities.
Under a swap deal, the Railway Board has approved the transfer of 3,500 square feet of land needed by BMRCL near the KR Puram station to widen the road linking Tin Factory-KR Puram to Marathahalli-Whitefield, while the railways build a equal part of the land instead.
As part of the road widening, most of the buildings on a one-kilometer stretch from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) overpass to KR Puram railway station will be partially demolished, while several will be completely demolished.
