Statkraft announced the commissioning of its first large-scale solar power plant in India to ramp up solar and wind power developers across the country.
The 76 MW Nellai solar power plant is located in Tamil Nadu and will generate 120 GWh of renewable energy annually, equivalent to the power consumption of more than 500,000 homes in India.
Executive Vice President of Statkraft, Jürgen Tzschoppe, said the company is focused on developing green solar projects in India. The Nellai plant will support its strategy to strengthen its industrial presence in the solar energy segment.
The Nellai solar park is being developed on the Indian Group Captive model, where customers will own 26% of the plant and purchase electricity under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).
