Gujarat sets a target to reduce carbon emissions from energy production to 139 MT by 2030 by increasing installed renewable energy capacity to 68,000 MW over the next eight years.
A release stated that the state has reduced CO2 emissions by about 115% in 2022 compared to 2017, due to an increase in installed renewable energy capacity in electricity generation.
In 2017-18, the reduction of CO2 emissions from renewable energy in Gujarat was 12.08 tons, which increased to 26.01 tons, or 115% in 2021-22. The government of Gujarat disclosed the information in the press release issued on World Environment Day.
