Tata Steel builds rainwater harvesting structure at Joda

Bhubaneswar : Tata Steel has introduced a scientific Rainwater Harvesting System in Joda to check the depletion of ground water level.The project is being implemented at Joda East Iron Mine (JEIM) in Keonjhar district and it will be launched soon, according to company sources.

The initiative is first of its kind in the locality to increase the ground water status both in terms of quantity and quality in and around the mining area. The scientific system is introduced after a detailed technical feasibility study by M/s KRG Rainwater Foundation, Chennai.

The run-off water from various directions has been directed to the SCP through suitable diversion arrangements. The stored water from the SCP would be recovered through the recovery structure.
