National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) has awarded a green hydrogen project to Amara Raja Power Systems to establish India's first green hydrogen filling station in Leh, Ladakh.
The company said the project aims to introduce zero-emission transport in and around Leh with a plan to test five hydrogen fuel cell buses across the region.
This pilot project will generate nearly 80 kg of 99.97% pure hydrogen per day, which will be compressed, stored and distributed. Here, green hydrogen is formed by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen through electrolysis powered by electricity generated by renewable energy sources.
