The plans of the government of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to build one lakh 2BHK houses for the poor seem to have hit a pause button due to labor shortages and other issues in Hyderabad.
According to a Right to Information Act (RTI) query filed by city-based citizen activist Robin Zaccheus, of the 49 2BHK housing projects planned across Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, only eight projects in Bogaram, Sainagar, Bandlaguda, Kulsumpura, and Adarsh Nagar are in process.
Construction work on 2,691 homes has been postponed due to labor shortages and the Covid-19 pandemic. Other causes for the delays in the 2 BHK projects include conflicts between the GHMC and the construction company, which four projects are witnessing.
