HPCL plans to expand its refining capacity from 8.5 mmpta to 15 mmpta under the Visakh Refinery Modernization Project (VRMP). To facilitate the new units, for reliable grid power supply at 220 kV level, HPCL intends to evacuate 220 kV power supply from the nearest grid pooling substation in Kalapaka. PTC was involved in this project since the concept development, conducting the feasibility study, detailed engineering and estimation, package design, bidding process management and then for providing project management consultancy services to HPCL.
PTC, together with its consortium partner WAPCOS, has jointly undertaken project management consultancy work and is involved in overseeing survey work, detailed engineering, review of drawings and approvals, equipment/material inspection and issuing approvals for shipment, supervision and certification of work performance incl. electrical and civil works, testing and commissioning activities, etc. The PTC team was in constant contact with Forest, Revenue, Railway, HPCL and APTRANSCO officials to speed up the approval process and recommended several suggestions to speed it up.
