Nepal has first started exporting cement to India. The official process started last week when Palpa Cement Industries Ltd exported its Tansen brand to India. The company, located at Sunwal Municipality-7 in West Nawalparasi district, hosted a special function to celebrate the occasion.
The Nepalese government had introduced an 8 percent cash subsidy in its annual budget for companies that export cement using Nepalese raw materials.
"Today we have exported about 3,000 bags of cement to India. From now on we will export it daily as needed," said a Palpa Cement official.
