Gadkari stresses need for R&D in construction equipment

Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has called for the formation of an organization especially for the Indian construction machinery manufacturing industry, which could conduct research and produce suitable technology for the future.

Gadkari said there should be an organization similar to the sector-specific ARAI for cars. During the annual session of ICEMA 2022, Gadkari said his ministry would support the creation of such an organization.

The minister emphasized equipment research and development and asked manufacturers to focus on fuel efficiency.

Gadkari also emphasized the importance of bio-LNG, bio-CNG and hydrogen as alternative fuels for cost savings and pollution reduction. Speaking of innovation and electric vehicles, he said it's time to change and start production of JCBs on electric.

Gadkari also stressed the need for skilled labor, appropriate training and road safety for long-term planning. He said that this industry gives strength to the Indian economy and makes 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'.
