Renewable Energy Minister Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi said the government has agreed in principle to end electronic reverse auctions of wind energy projects. The e-reverse auctions for other sustainable projects would also be suspended as the ministry agrees in principle with industry claims that such bidding creates unhealthy competition.
“A preliminary decision has been made. The industry has complained that e-reverse auctions are artificially lowering rates, resulting in “unhealthy competition” in RE.
He further stated that the government would follow the usual single bidding process for wind projects.
