Steel producer Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) has launched a global tender for the supply of coking coal and pulverized coal injection. The tender concerns the supply of 3.75 lakh metric tons (MT) of coking coal and 75,000 MT of injection pulverized coal (PCI).
“Global tender announcement for the supply of imported coke and PCI coal. Sealed tenders are being submitted for the supply of 3.75 lakh MT of coking coal and 75,000 MT of PCI with a shipping tolerance of 10 percent as per the specifications in the tender document,” a RINL message said.
The last date to submit bids is July 27, 2022 before 10:30 a.m., Visakhapatnam-based steel PSU said.

Coking coal is a raw material used to manufacture steel via the blast furnace route, while powdered coal is used by steel manufacturers as an auxiliary fuel in the blast furnace.
PCI is a process in which large quantities of fine coal particles are injected into the blast furnace feed line. Under the Ministry of Steel, RINL is among the six largest steel producers in the country with an annual capacity of approximately 7.5 million tons.
