The outstanding amount of Coal India (CIL) from the energy sector increased by 10 percent on a monthly basis to Rs 152.52 billion at the end of June 2022, from Rs 138.25 billion in May.
In June, CIL's coal production increased by 29 percent year-on-year to 51.56 million tons, while the cumulative production for April, May and June was 159.75 mt, which is 29 percent year-on-year.
With the country facing a shortage of coal, largely due to a significant drop in fuel imports and increased demand for electricity, coal declines rose 15 percent year-over-year to 58.98 million tons. while in April-June the overall decline grew by 10.7 percent to 177.59 mt year-on-year.
CIL shipments of coal were also 26.5% higher last month than last year at 51.09 million tons. In April-June, cumulative dry fuel shipments increased 19.2 percent year-on-year to 152.49 mt.
CIL's production of 622.63 mt of coal during FY22 is the highest on record. Production for FY22 represents an increase of 26.41 mt, up 4.4 percent from 596.22 mt last year.
