To promote interconnectivity with other modes of transport, Sahibabad RRTS station is being developed, which is part of India's fastest urban train route. It will be powered by 1,100 solar panels. The station serves as one of the two ends of the priority section of the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail Transport System. This 17 km long section of the corridor between Sahibabad and Modipuram (Meerut) should be operational by the end of next year.
Using the 82km RRTS network, commuters can travel from Delhi to Meerut in just 55 minutes with trains traveling at up to 180km/h. The corridor will be completed in its entirety in 2025.
The elevated station is built over part of the Vaishali access road. Most other stations were built over roads. This was done on purpose to ensure interaction with the nearby (500 meters) Kaushambi bus station. In reality, it was built on a site that complements the depot.
