Adani New Industries (ANIL) and Reliance Industries (RIL) plan to establish two Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants each.
ANIL plans to set up a 40 million tons per year (mtpa) plant in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, while RIL is still formalizing the site for two similar capacity units. The companies will invest up to Rs 500- Rs600 crore each to build these units.
CBG is produced by anaerobic decomposition of agricultural waste, sugar cane press mud and municipal waste. CBG is also being considered to produce green hydrogen and could be used as a replacement for natural gas through domestic pipelines.
