Visaka Industries, a building materials solutions company, will invest Rs 1.20 billion to set up a sustainable fiber cement board plant in Paschim Medinipur district of West Bengal.
This will be Visaka's fifth fiber cement board plant and the first such unit in the state. The company also has a cement roofing sheet factory in the same district. The company is expanding its capacity as fiber cement boards are in high demand. The new factory has a production capacity of 72,000 meters and is powered by its own solar roof. The company will start work on the new project at the earliest.
“With this investment, we choose to expand our production capacity. The market would not only be in West Bengal, but also in other states of Eastern India, in response to the rising demand for environmentally friendly building materials,” said Vamsi Gaddam, joint director of Visaka Industries.
The factory is expected to create jobs for 500 people in the area.The company claimed that the Vnext board, the largest selling brand of fiber cement boards in India, is a sustainable product and has already helped save more than 500,000 trees.
