According to a statement from the Ministry of Coal, total coal production increased by 11.37% in July this year to 60.42 million tons (mt). However, SCCL registered negative growth of 32.51% during the month, the ministry said. Out of the top 37 coal mines, 24 mines produced more than 100% in July this year. The production of another seven mines was between 80 and 100%.
At the same time, coal transport increased by 8.51% to 67.81 million tons, from 62.49 million tons in July 2022 compared to the previous year. In July 2022, CIL and captured mines/others registered a growth of 8.17% and 40.78% by shipping 54.54 mt and 9.91 mt respectively.
